Meet the Sea Giants
In summer, the St. Lawrence River becomes the playground of the world's biggest marine mammals: whales! Come observe them accompanied by bilingual naturalist guides who will tell you about some of their characteristics, which are as impressive as the animals themselves.
The blue whale, which is the biggest of all whales, can reach 30 metres in length and can weight up to 190 tons! The harbour porpoise, by comparison, is the smallest with its 1.5 metre in length and its 30 to 90 kg! If you are lucky, you will see these both species, in addition to numerous others, including the impressive humpback whale, the sperm whale or the famous beluga.
During the entire warm season, Croisières 2001's guides and captain will give you thrills on the river, aboard the catamaran Katmar, which can welcome up to 175 passengers. For three hours, you will have the chance to observe these sea giants in their impressive spectacular dance. The boat will also take you to one of the world's most beautiful fjords: the imposing Saguenay Fjord. During the cruise, you will be given the opportunity to observe the sea bed through a remote-controlled underwater camera, which is exclusive to Croisières 2001. Thrill seekers can also go on the cruise aboard an inflatable dinghy and thus feel closer to the whales.
With Croisières 2001, you will spend a most agreeable cruise!It is recommended to wear warm clothes during your excursion, because of the heavy winds blowing on the river. In addition, you are asked to make a reservation for your excursion at least 24 hours in advance, with Croisières 2001.
