The Murray Bay protestant church was one of the first protestant churches in the region. It was built in 1867, after the Catholic Church put pressure on the protestant summer inhabitants, who used to gather in a house rented to an inhabitant. The Catholic priest forced them to build a chapel. All the protestant summer inhabitants helped build the chapel, and in 1867, they celebrated the first mass inside.
Since that date, the only change that has been made to the church is the replacement of the wooden facing into a stone facade. Nowadays, the protestant summer inhabitants keep maintaining the church. In addition to the superb steeple outside, visitors can see beautiful stained glass windows and commemorative panels inside, in memory of those who took care of the church throughout the years. Many summer inhabitants chose to be buried in the cemetery next to the chapel.
