Saint-Irénée

Saint-Irénée

In Sainte-Irénée, the peacefulness of the place and the spectacular proximity of the river and the mountains will take your breath away. This municipality has already welcomed famous personalities like Rodolphe Forget, who built the Québec-Charlevoix railway, and Adolphe Routier, author of the “Ô Canada” lyrics. Saint-Irénée is also renowned for capelin and rainbow smelt fishing, as well as for its church that reminds of the famous Québécois soap opera “Le Temps d’une Paix” that was shot in this municipality in the 1980s.

At the summit of the village, the Ateliers DeBlois shows the exclusive works of Joan DeBlois, which consist of raku (a Japanese cooking method), functional pottery and its contemporary collection “OZÉ”. On the site, you will also find an art gallery that shows Marc DeBlois’ paintings as well as a “Factory Outlet” shop. You will even have the chance to observe the artists who often work on the site. Finally, stop at the Domaine Forget on Rang Saint-Antoine. For more than 25 years now, the Domaine Forget has been a gathering place for renowned artists from everywhere in the world. Its music and dance Academy is famous for the quality of its teaching and for its International festival. From the middle of June to the middle of August, nearly 60 classical music, dance and jazz concerts are given on the site. The François-Bernier Hall, opened in 1996, mainly proposes world music variety shows. Moreover, musical brunches take place every Sunday during summer in a fiesta atmosphere and attract a lot of people.
