Saint-Hilarion

Saint-Hilarion

In this village located in the heart of the Charlevoix’s hinterland, you will find several commemorative plaques dedicated to some personalities who greatly influenced the history of the region. It is also the birthplace of Olivar Asselin, one of the cofounders of the Le Devoir newspaper. On the front of the village’s church, you will find a plaque that underlines his social engagement. If you walk along the Fabrique Street, you will also see the monument Chouinard, dedicated to Télesphore, one of the first pioneers to settle in Charlevoix and whose descendants still live in the region. To admire the beautiful scenery shaped by the impact of a meteorite, take Cartier Street towards Les Éboulements and you will have a spectacular view. You will find another plaque, this one dedicated to Mr. Jean Rondot, the discoverer of the Charlevoix crater. The plaque explains the history of the meteorite.
