Saint-Siméon

It’s in Saint-Siméon that you will find the parc d’Aventure en Montagne Les Palisades – L’Ascensation, a site shaped by the glaciers, which made it the perfect place to go climbing. On this site, you will have access to 10-mile-long panoramic hiking trails with viewpoints, two via ferrata circuits, mountain trails with security cables and a 400-meter-high climbing wall. You can also cross the lake by taking the 250-meter-long tyrolean. You will also discover plant species and a diversified forest on the site, as well as a lake from the ice period and masses of fallen rocks at the footstep of a 3-mile-high granite wall from which you will have a view on the rivière Noire and the St. Lawrence River.

It is also possible to reach Rivière-du-Loup by the ferryboat N.M. Trans-Saint-Laurent. Located right next to Saint-Siméon’s lighthouse, the Éco-Musée de la Baleine and Art Gallery leads to a large viewpoint from where you will have the possibility to observe numerous whale species, like fin whales, mink whales and belugas. Inside the museum, you will find a collection of whale bones, the skeleton of a common dolphin, the ribs of a mink whale and the skull and tusk of a narwhal, also called sea unicorn. An art gallery also shows paintings representing the sea and nature.
