If you’re coming from Québec City, Petite-Rivière-Saint-François is the first municipality you will encounter in Charlevoix. Located between rivers and mountains, Petite-Rivière-Saint-François is Charlevoix’s oldest colonization site. Visit the chapelle de Maillard, in which you will find frescoes painted by regional artists. The maisons ancestrales Simard of the Domaine Liguori, for their part, offer a perfect traditional architecture and show the works of artists from Charlevoix. The village’s quay offers a great viewpoint on the mountains and on the South shore of the river. The parc des Riverain, for its part, proposes a picnic area where you can rest and admire the region’s scenery.
The renowned ski resort Massif de Petite-Rivière-Saint-François is waiting for downhill skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts. The spectacular view offered to ski amateurs is breathtaking. You can access the mountain from the top or from the bottom. A few kilometres from the municipality, you will find the departure point of the Sentier des caps de Charlevoix, which offers 30 miles of hiking trails that link Petite-Rivière-Saint-François to cap Tourmente in Saint-Joachim. You can walk the entire path, for a four- to six-day excursion, or in part only, for shorter excursions. From these trails, you will be able to admire the peaks of cap à l’Abattis and of montagne à Liguori.
